Hi! Welcome to 8th Grade and to my classroom. My name is Karen Matthews and this is my 7th year at Joaquin. I love my job and my students. Joaquin Jr. High was “Exemplary” last year and we are soooooo proud of our students… Joaquin is an outstanding school.
I have been married for 27 years to a sweet guy. We have a daughter, Hannah, who is a senior at Joaquin High School this year. Our son, Adam, was killed several years ago, but is always present in our hearts.
I am an animal lover. We have a parrot (JJ), 4 cats (Yellow Cat, Gray Cat, Sox, and Ester) and 5 dogs (Ginger, Cricket, Sparky, Buddy and Lucky). I have a fish in my room named “Charlie”. I also raised a raccoon named “Connie” but she has now gone to start her own family. That’s about all the news about me.
